I saw a funny piece on TV yesterday imagining Bullwinkle Moose responding to Fred Thompson's comments about Sarah Palin knowing how to field dress a moose. Unfortunately, some voters do seem to think that the experience of gutting a caribou shows more mettle than excelling in the study of constitutional law. It's amazing to me that this campaign has taken Obama's strength as a constitutional scholar and turned it into a negative inference of elitism.
I would love to see an ad starting with Fred Thompson's ringing endorsement of "the first canidate who knows how to field dress a moose". The ad would then cut to the presidential oath of office, swearing to uphold the Constitution. It would ask what quality is more important to a person aspiring to be president, a deep knowledge of the Constitution or the ability to gut a caribou? There might even be a series of ads cataloging Bush's abuse and disregard for the Constitution and highlighting Obama's knowledge and respect for the Constitution.
I don't want to be swiftboated again. In the last presidential election the campaign turned a decorated veteran's war record against him. The sheer gall of inviting the comparison between a callow, beer swilling young George W. Bush and a serious and committed young John Kerry simply amazes me.
