I had to take a few weeks to regain my footing after my father passed away but I am back in action today after biting my fingernails off during the reporting on the New Hampshire Primary results.
Yes, I was surprised that the voting results did not track to the polling. Yes, I was disappointed like so many other ardent believers in the movement that I know will send Barack Obama to the White House. Yes, it took a few hours to bounce back and to look at today as the first day to begin again to win the nomination.
This is a grass roots campaign, always has been, always will be. The victory will be won only by grass roots organizing in our own neighborhoods, churches, workplaces and living rooms. There is no other way to win.
So today, I am getting back to what I know about grass roots. It is personal, close-up and one-on-one. It is talking to total strangers about why I personally believe that Barack Obama can change Washington. It is about reaching out to new people who may not yet have heard this message of hope.
Yes, I can make a difference every day because I am invested in the future of this country and together, every believer can make a difference.
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics and they will only grow louder and more dissonant in the weeks to come and months to come. We've been asked to pause for a reality check.
We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope. But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
For when we have faced down impossible odds; when we've been told that we're not ready, or that we shouldn't try, or that we can't, generations of Americans have responded with a simple creed that sums up the spirit of a people.
Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can.
Barack Obama, Jan. 8, 2007
Dear friends,
After nearly a year into this movement for change – a movement the cynics never believed would be possible – Senator Obama and you are making history.
Senator Obama did what many thought was the impossible when he won the state of Iowa and then again last night when he nearly tied for the win in New Hampshire, Clinton’s “firewall”, where she enjoyed significant double digit leads for several months.
Last night, tens of thousands of additional voters came to the polls, including Democrats, Republicans and Independents, to vote for change and against status quo Washington politics. Now, we’ll take this movement for change to Nevada, South Carolina and the February 5 states.
We received great news in Nevada today where the state’s largest and most politically potent union, the 60,000-strong Culinary Local 226, endorsed Senator Obama. Representing the state’s casino, restaurant and hotel workers, they will boost our efforts to get out the caucus on January 19th.
Our operation here in Nevada is fired up and ready to go. Women from throughout the country are traveling to the state this weekend to stay through the 19th, while others are arriving on the 17th. I’m currently working out of the Las Vegas headquarters and the phones haven’t stopped ringing from those who want to come here and help Obama win his second caucus.
If you want to join us here in one of our Las Vegas offices or up north in Reno or Carson City, sign up today at http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/come2nv/?source=nvsidebar. That will get you plugged into our system immediately and I will help you get placed with our field organization on the ground here. We need your help here, so come out and join us!
Attached below are some additional talking points from the campaign. I encourage you to get the message out to your networks of women. Thanks again for all you are doing to bring the change we need to our country and helping Senator Obama on this journey. With your support, we will take Nevada and move on to South Carolina.
As Senator Obama said last night, Yes We Can!!
Barack Obama is in the strongest position to win South Carolina and Nevada
Barack Obama has the organization and momentum to clinch the nomination on February 5th
Barack Obama is our party’s best chance of winning in November

Today's Meditation
Dear Lord,You are the light that illumines my path. Because of Your love and support, all my dreams can become a reality in my life. As I continue to let go of any thoughts of lack and limitation, I become even more conscious of Your unfailing support.
